For buyers

Any business that resells or serves fresh produce: green grocers and kiosks, mini-marts and supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and cafés, schools, hospitals and other institutions, and processors. Taimba is a business-to-business platform, so we sell in trade units rather than single kilos.

Fill in the form on the For Retailers page, or call +254 745 777 222. A trade agent confirms your delivery area, your typical volumes and your payment terms. It is free and there is no minimum contract.

4:00pm for delivery the next morning. Orders placed after the cut-off go onto the following day’s run.

Yes, within our Nairobi delivery zones. There is no transport line on your bill. This is the single biggest saving for most shops — a typical green grocer spends KES 300–400 and half a morning getting to the wholesale market and back.

M-Pesa at checkout or on delivery, cash on delivery where agreed, or on invoice terms if your account is approved for them. See Delivery & payment.

Check the order before the driver leaves and reject anything that is not the grade you ordered — it comes off your bill on the spot. After the driver leaves, call us within two hours and we will replace it on the next run or credit your account.

Fresh produce prices move with the season, but keeping them stable is central to how we work — we plan harvests with farm groups against real demand rather than buying at spot prices. For standing weekly volumes we can agree a fixed price for an agreed period.

Our routes cover Nairobi and the immediate surrounding towns today. Tell us where you are — we open new routes as demand builds in an area.

For farmers and farm groups

No. Registration is free and there is no joining fee, ever. If anyone asks you to pay to be registered or to have your produce collected, call +254 745 777 222 before you pay anything.

We buy at the group level because it is what makes collection and pricing work for everyone, but talk to us anyway if you are farming alone — we work with groups at an early stage of organisation, and can point you to partners who help with registration.

Our infrastructure is currently tooled for potatoes, onions, carrots and tomatoes — the crops most exposed to price volatility, seasonality and short shelf life where proper storage does not exist — plus cabbages and leafy greens. Growing something else? Tell us; the list grows with our retailer network.

The consignment is weighed and graded on receipt, and payment goes to the group’s account on the terms agreed with your field officer. Paying on time is not negotiable for us — it is the whole point.

We do. Our vehicles collect from the group’s agreed collection point.

Grade standards are agreed with the group before harvest so there are no surprises. Off-grade produce is either priced separately or returned, and your field officer will work with the group on what to change for the next cycle.

About Taimba

We are a mobile-based, cashless business-to-business platform that connects rural smallholder farmers to urban retailers. We buy at the farm gate, grade and pack at our Nairobi hub, and deliver to the buyer’s premises — cutting out the five or six middlemen who normally sit in between.

A ready market, a price agreed before harvest, payment on time, no transport cost, and links to partners who train on better farming practice. Farmers selling through Taimba earn materially more than they would selling at the roadside.

Yes — use the contact form and choose “Partnership”. You can also help simply by connecting us to a buyer: grocery chains, supermarkets, estate shops or processing companies.
