Taimba buys directly from farmers, organised smallholder farm groups and SACCOs at
prices agreed before harvest — and pays within 24 hours of delivery. No broker at the
gate, no crop left in the field because the buyer never came. 4,500 farmers have
registered with us so far.
Our infrastructure is tooled for the crops most exposed to price swings and spoilage. Growing something else? Talk to us anyway — our buyer list grows with our retailer network.

We understand farmers
Three things every smallholder needs
The problem was never how to grow. It was who buys, at what price, and when the money arrives.
💵
Up to 15% more for your crop
There are usually six brokers between a smallholder and a Nairobi shop. We take them
out, so the price is agreed up front on grade and volume — and paid within 24 hours,
not whenever the broker decides your crop was worth it.
🛒
A ready market
Our retailer network offers a standing market for the farm group, and removes the
logistical challenges that normally block market access — we come to the collection
point.
🤝
Up to 60% less waste
Your crop moves straight into grading and cold storage instead of sitting at a
roadside. We also link farm groups to partners who train on good agricultural
practice, input use and post-harvest handling.
Why farm groups
Selling together beats selling alone
A single smallholder with 80 kg of tomatoes has no leverage and no route to a Nairobi
buyer. Fifteen farmers with two tonnes between them have both. That is why we organise
farmers into groups and co-operatives and buy at the group level.
Planned planting. We share what our retailers will need, so the group plants against real demand instead of guessing.
One collection point. Our vehicles collect from the group, which cuts everyone's transport cost to near zero.
One payment, transparently split. The group is paid for the consignment and the split is recorded per member.
A record that builds credit. A season of documented sales is the start of a credit history most smallholders never get to build.
How supplying works
From registration to payment
Register the group
Tell us where you are, how many members you have, what you grow and roughly how much you harvest.
We agree the terms
A field officer visits, inspects the crop, and agrees grade standards, quantities and price with the group.
Get paid
The consignment is weighed and graded on receipt, and payment is sent to the group's account within 24 hours. Payment is also sent to the farmer directly for individual registrations.
What changes when the chain gets shorter
Six brokers usually stand between a smallholder and a Nairobi shop. Remove them and the money shows up on both ends.

Register as a farmer or farm group
Fill this in and a field officer will call you — whether you farm alone or as part of
a group. If your group is not yet formally organised, say so — we work with groups at
that stage too and can point you to partners who help with registration.
Free to register, no joining fee — ever
We buy from individual farmers and from farm groups, from 500 kg upwards
Taimba never asks a farmer for money. If anyone asks you to pay to be
registered, to be listed as a supplier, or to have your produce collected, call us on
+254 745 777 222 before you pay anything.
